I guess it all depends on whether or not you have a connection to something.
Lauryn Williams graduated from Rochester High School in 2001. In 1998 or 1999 I tutored at that school. In Athens, in 2004 she took a silver medal. In London, she took a gold, both medals in track and field.
In Sochi, she is competing in the bobsled. I can't wait to see how she does.
As far as other sports, I live 25 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, so, it is easy to get excited when you are surrounded by all kinds of all star athletes. I never got into sports myself, always been a farmer which is a sport in and of itself.
To make my post tractor related: Lynn Swann bought a Gravely 12G or 16G lawn tractor from the Ford New Holland dealership I worked at. It always impressed me that he mowed his own grass instead of hiring someone. Also, Marty Schottenheimer helped my dad and grandfather bale hay, and my dad and grandfather planted corn on his family farm. It's hard not to be a fan of what he did, when you have those connections.
