Been away since last week and in the hospital. Of course, the SIL and dawter are feeding. Got home late yesterday, so the SIL fed again. But, now that I'm back, I'm going to get into doing most of the feeding again. First night back, and I spot a new calf. No, not new. A few days old. And, with a problem we have been fighting for the past year or so. A protruding navel stump. Another one to have to be operated on by the vet. Thank the Lord we only have another month of calving to endure. This problem has been caused by the bull we had, and has cost us several thousand dollars in vet bills and calving losses so far this year. So far, it's about one in three or four calves, but sure seems like more. Oh, well. Tell me again why I like being a farmer......
