Another project begins.
One of my neighbors just donated his 43 John Deere B to our 4H club.
His dad bought it new in 43, and it's been on their farm ever since. They stopped farming probably 20 years ago, the farms all woods now, and that includes the tractor.
Engine's stuck, tires are rotted, but this one has some meaning.
First of all, it's hometown tractor with local history, but more important to me is that this man is in his 70's and has liver cancer. His wife just passed away last month.
I sure would like to get this thing fully restored in time for him to drive it one more time. But either way, I think he'll get a lot of satisfaction just seeing some of the younger generation working on it, and learning about its history.
Here's a picture of me and a friend extracting it from the woods (this is after clearing the jungle that had it hidden under vines, poison ivy, thorns, etc.
