Took my GMC truck to the local dealer to have a problem with the A/C corrected (for next year). This dealer also sells and services one of the Japanese makes. The Service Manaher came out to the lounge and told the owner of the Japanese vehicle he needed a new muffler assy. (included tail pipe with chrome tip) and the price was $700. The guy about fell over. The excuse was the chrome tip on the tailpipe.
We see complaints here about parts pricing from various OEM's but nothing like this. It is worse elsewhere.
