I was working on my Ford trucks door lock motor,Its held in place with a 1/4in pop rivet.I had a jammed lock cylinder.Ford wanted 49 bucks for a new lock. One locksmith said replace it ,a second lock smith fixed it for 5 bucks.Ford wanted 2.90 for the pop rivet.I had to make a trip of about 30 miles.Stopped in an auto supply and bought 2 for 79 cents.Stopped at a body shop where I got one free.Stopped at a small shop where I got 2 for 25 cents.I have the tool to pull these big rivets.Just dont use them often. On the other hand When I needed spring hangers for my truck I had to get them at a Ford dealer.Rock Auto sent the wrong front hangers wouldnt take them back.I parked the truck and didnt get the box off until a month later. They pulled the no returns after 30 days on me.The rear hangers were the right ones for for a 4wd but the fronts were for a 2wd.Three auto shops tried to give me the wrong parts.I called the Ford parts man.He said I know what you need and will leave them on the counter with the slip if Im not here when you come for them. The parts cost more but were the right ones. The ford hangers were heavier than the import parts. The 4wd uses a 3 inch wide spring, 2wd uses a 2.5 inch spring.

My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day.
