Some grease is required. At one time there was an IHC magneto grease for those gears. The notch should line up with another mark on the other gear. For reinstallation, I wound up putting the mag in with rotor pointing to #1, @ tdc piston #1. I turned crank until the impulse deal tripped, then rotated 1.5 revs. This is what it took to get a spark on the #1 wire @ tdc of #1 piston. The 1 rev the manual called for got me spark @ tdc of one of the other pistons. I assumed a mistake in manual. What a pain in the ass figuring that out was. Anybody's manual say 1.5 rev vs 1.0 rev?
