Need help with our 56 Farmall 300. 6Volt battery still installed with neg ground. Generator with no leads attached and at idle engine speed puts out neg 17V. (Pos meter lead on "A" terminal and neg lead on case) Would this indicate someone has installed a Pos ground 12V generator at some point? Due to blue paint does not look original. I don't have a problem keeping it Pos ground and going to 12V but wondering what kind a regulator should be used. I understand the regulator can be polarized either way but can the generator?
