I am certainly no expert at this but I had both sides out of an early M last July. Nothing fell apart and reassembly was no problem. Probaly the trickiest part is lining up shifting forks when lowering top cover. I would suggest giving all bolts a good shot of penatrating oil each day for a week or so before starting. It does get to be a big job. Good luck and have fun.
