I have a John Deere 318 that many days i cannot get it to engage the starter. All it does is "click" and will not turn the enging over. I had the starter rebuilt and replaced the relay a couple of times now. I have also replaced the battery with a new one. It seems if I put a heavy charge into the battery sometimes it will engage. My next move is to replace the starter with a new one and see if that works. I dont know if there are any relay switches on the system or not but even then i would think they would not let the starter to "ding" the flywheel. I love the tractor and doing everything to keep it in a running condition. But I am at a loss as to why this starting problem is annoying me. Help anyone?
