Remove carb,check that tang on float not worn or bent/twisted causing float to go off center & bind against venturi(center tube) on carb body & bowl,remove float needle & check that needle & seat not gummed up,causing needle to stick.I agree with beau,eng had a starter/gen setup,both blk & red wire went to regulator & sol for armature on s/g,I am at a loss,as to how eng being stopped,same has either point/mag or solid state ign,only way I can see eng was stopped is to pull plug wire,ground kill lead at eng or pull choke & flood eng.
