The intake manifold and the exhaust manifolds are two pieces on this tractor. The muffler was short and mounted on the exhaust manifold. The muffler was next to the engine and not on the tailpipe like the 8N. Call this number and talk to Kenny. 1-800-342-3551. I bought a used exhaust manifold for the 172 engine from him for $35.00. They only scrap Fords and may have everything you need and they ship anywhere in the world. Was the person you bought the 601 tractdor scrapping it out and sold off some of the parts. Can you find out much info on it, such as was the trans. working when parked. Sometimes it is only the overrunning clutch on the front of the transmission that causes the problem, could be more but not proable less. Also ask kenny about a gas head, a distributor, and maybe if the pistons are the same. I would think that the gas pistons my have a different compression ratio. Also you will need the gas manifold and intake manifold. This are avilable new from places different than New Holland, I think about $135.00. I think this was from Tisco. They gas manifold is a one piece design. Hope this helps some.
