Hi, I never had a problem after hydraulic filter change but you are correct others have had problems with loosing hydraulic pump prime. Be sure to clean mesh filter as it is probably clogged with parking brake material and be careful when you take the filter off to re-assemble parts in proper order. If you loose prime the first thing I would try is drive tractor on slope with the filter side down, lift out hydraulic dip stick and work hydraulic levers and PS back and forth.
Re Brakes, they require bleeding, you can search archives and find procedure. There is like a grease zerk above each rear axle and that is brake bleed screw. BTW, 674 has same rear end as 454,464,574,484,584,684,784,884, same as 495 thru 895 and newer 32XX series.
