Sev: Are you waiting long enough for all the shafts to stop rotating? There is sometimes enough rotational friction drag of heavy and or cold oil that one needs to wait till everything stops rotating before going into the next gear. I presume the tractor stops when the clutch is engaged and the engine is uncoupled from the transmission or is your problem that the engine still powers the transmission even when the clutch pedal is depressed?.
