Hi, Hopefully someone can help me out, and hopefully I am posting on the proper forum. I am looking for some infomation on a "Unit" dozer. It may also be a crane, but I am not certain. It has the word 'Unit" forged into almost every part on it, so I am assuming that is the brand name. Here is a little info on it. Here in NJ we have if you can belive it, a very large wooden area called the Pine Barrens. There is a Swamp called the Great Swamp here that in years past was logged for the cedar trees. Aparently, this particular dozer or crane was damaged in some way that it could not get out of the swamp, so it was left there. Rumor has it that a helicopter was brought in and the crane portion and the engine were removed in that manor. I would tend to think it was a crane because of the cable system on it. It was used to pick up the cedar logs after cutting, and then to load them on a vehicle to be removed. You can see photo's at the links at the bottom of this post.
If anyone has any info on this type of vehicle, or know where I can get more info, I would appreciate it. Thank You Guy
