I notice that we are using the term GUMBO. My use of the word may be different that what others view as GUMBO. When growing up, my dad used the term GUMBO to refer to subsoil that had all the top soil eroded away. Our old C Case was rated at 3 bottoms but we only used a 2 bottom plow behind it. In GUMBO, a 1 bottom plow would have been about right. On GUMBO ground, the corn made about 30 bu. That was before seed corn cost 200 dollars a bushel!!!
