Nationwide 55mph speed limit. Was a hard pill to swallow. Many (if not most,) drivers ignored it, especially on the freeways, and expressways. I know it was real hard for those of us who were used to freeway speeds to slow down. Seemed like we were taking forever to get anywhere, especilly when every trucker and other driver was blowin' your doors off. IN SHORT, IT WON"T WORK!
Probably the only thing that will drive fuel usage down is higher prices, and we're sure getting that. Problem is that many of us have ALREADY made significant cuts in our driving habits and driving, and MORE cuts are very hard to make.
