Recently when the Murray River flooded the water swept over the flood plains, when it receded the water came back to the river and because it was in leaf litter and everything else it was depleted of oxygen, it created dead water and asphyxiated a lot of these big ones. could catch them without a rod.Happened in some of the annabranches also.
