i was refering to a 24valve but the 12 valves are the same way with the feed pump except the require a bit more pressure. a fuel pressure gauge is cheap insurance that could save your expen$ive injector pump( p-pump for 12 valve or vp-44 for the 24 valve). the KDP (killer dowel pin) is more for the 12 valver's to worry about. some of the early 24 valves had parts used from the 12 valves so they to must be checked. after 99.5 or so those parts were used up and the kdp was re-designed. dodge cummins forum has a LOT of info on these trucks and what keeps them going, as well as bumping up the power a little or a lot. i have an 01' cummins and love it, they last a long time if maintained, that maintenance includes the lift pump. fass, airdog, and raptor are the most common aftermarket replacement pumps. i sugest the raptor because it re-uses the stock fuel filter.
