early 24 vlaves, its hit or miss really but after 2000 most of the 12 valve gear cases we used up. the new ones have a beveled edge where the kdp lives, keeping it from coming out. the only way to know for sure is to pull it all apart and take a look. but your right, some of the 24 valve ISB engines do have an un-beveled gear case where the kdp is.
