Water will usually not conduct enough current to trip a breaker (unless it is GFI protected, which it is not). Breakers do not trip from "open" circuits. I'll still bet on a bad batch of elements. A leak into the core through the (often) inconel exterior of the element will cause serious deterioration rapidly. Missing element is an indicator toward this. Unless it is actually running out of water in the heater tank (element exposed) it should boil water for years without burning out. Jim
