Given some of the other discussion, I hesitate to get involved but here goes... You don't mention a resistor (or diode or idiot light) in the wire from the alternator to the switch. If you've got a modern Delco 10SI, leaving that item out will cause the tractor to not shut off if it's wired correctly otherwise. Have you included that resistor? If not, then I suspect you need to swap the wires and add the resistor. Without driving home and looking at my 2N, I can't tell you for sure which terminal on the 2-wire connector should go where. Hope that helps.
