coupler -hydraulics etc.

First time hookin up a 1209 Mow/Cond. to my 3020 and the hose from the 1209 wont fit in my 3020 breakaway coupler. Figured out that I can get a adapter or replace the end with the right one. Question is if I replace the end on the hose to the 1209 how much fluid will i loose. And how to bleed it once i do it. OR should i just use the adapter?? thanks
