I just got finished taking a class In the new Tier 4 engines, The new engines will have series turbo charging on the bigger engines (90+hp) Exhuast gas recirulation cooler but get this this is what i thought was interesting.
No more mufflers, They will now have Particulate filters. And get this There will be almost no maintance required (every 5000 you have to clean ash out) becuase there is a valve that will inject diesel into the exhuast pretty much creating an exhuast fire which will sky rocket EGT's and clean all the filters
