I have used a brush,and I have sandblasted.But I have a sandblast and diesel compressor. I always prime bare metal.Another thing,make sure the paint on the inside is well dried before re-mounting. On the inside,where color don't matter/show I use left over car paint so I feel I get a good grade paint that will hold up.
