I recommend the white predrilled corks over the black ones. They cost a tad bit more, but I think the black ones leave a taste in some types of wine.
EC Krause has a cheap little book that has recipes for every kind of wine that you could imagine. Even onion wine and tomato wine - UGH. They also sell a very well written book (British author) that explains the whole process very well.
The airlock is important. Keeps the fruit flies out.
