Just coincidence that I got my property tax receipts the same day as flying belgian posted about his dog... In WI, it's $5 for each spayed/neutered (I think $10 if not) dog, due when you pay the first half of your property taxes. Always annoyed me - just one more tax, and one that doesn't affect owners of other pets. My German shepherd died last July, so I sent a note with my tax payment saying I didn't need a dog license and didn't have to pay the $5. In with my receipts is an "Affidavit of Death or Disposal of Dog" that I have to fill out and return. Supposed to be notarized, too. This is pathetic. What a waste of time (and paper), just to keep a few people from possably cheating the state out of $5-10. Think I better be sending a email to Madison...
