Ron, that big alternator will peg the amp meter untill the battery gets near full charge so it may be OK You might want to check voltage at battery with the tractor running fast, should be no more than 15V The no shut down fix is best described in this post that I will paste on here. (It's backfeeding enough current thru the coil with the ign switch open to cause the coil to fire.) Replace it with a lamp rated around 200 ma @ 12 volts...like a #194 or #1815 auto side marker lamp/instrument panel lamp...the problem should go away. If you don't want the warning light showing, wrap it in black tape and tuck it someplace handy in the wiring harness. Or you can substitute a 1 amp 50 PRV diode in place of the lamp - install it so it passes current to the #1 alt terminal from the switch.
