It is correct that sea levels would not rise even if all of the Arctic ice cap melted, as well as the entire Antarctic ice shelf. But that's not the problem: A huge amount of water is stored in the earth's glaciers. In fact much of the water we rely on to live comes from glaciers. Glaciers are shrinking at a alarming rate around the globe, and that water IS causing sea levels to rise.
The fact is, glacial retreat is the most visible probably the most irrefutable evidence of warming. Unlike weather reports, accurate reports of the sizes of many glaciers are available for hundreds of years. Global warming skeptics don't like to talk about glaciers.
