Hi Bill - Your voltage readings say the alternator is not working. If it were working it would show 14.0 - 14.5 volts at the battery... A couple possible reasons why it's not working: 1 - You didn't spin it up fast enough to "turn on". Single wire alternators need to have the rotors run up to 2,000+ RPM after starting before they'll charge. (Once they get turned on, they'll charge at idle like any other alternator.) If you haven't already, run the tractor up to full throttle for a moment, then take another voltage reading. 2 - The alternator's simply no good. About all you can do then is replace it. Far as I'm a aware a single wire Delco is a regular 3-wire model 10-SI with a different internal regulator. I'm not a big fan of these units - they're more expensive than a 3-wire unit. Also they have a tendency to run the battery down due to a small, constant internal current drain when shut off. It's a lot of hassle to eliminate 2 wires. Just my opinion however - other people think 1-wire alternators are great.

Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
