Looks like on radar our first real snow is only a few hours' away. 3 inches here in central Iowa tonight, another 5 with 40 mph wind on Tuesday. Brought up a load of wood for the shop stove, test ran the generator, dropped a bale in the ring for the horses, put the big bucket on the 706 and gassed up the plow truck. And gassed up the sleds just in case. So I guess I'm ready as it gets.
Lots of folks my age cuss the winter but I still get a charge out of the first snow. Still like getting snowed in too, neighbors all get together and go from farm to farm checking on chores and testing the beer supply.
