Yup, they why I drive junkers in the winter. I can't stomach the idea of buying a clean vehicle just to watch it get eaten away by salt.
I am positive that more then half of all my vehicle repairs are due to rust, not wear.
To add insult to injury . . . last summer we took a ride to some forest we own up in Jefferson County (Tug Hill Plateau). Nice August day. Took my summer-only rust-free 94 Ford diesel F250 up there. What happens? We get stuck behind a saltwater truck spraying saltwater brine all over the dirt roads. Can't win.
