That's a good-looking but light three-point setup. I think you've been lucky so far, since the PTO housing on those old tractors is not that strong.

You've got a hydraulic pump on there somewhere to run the wood splitter, and when you have a rockshaft like yours the lift point does not have to be centered. Put those things together and use them. How about moving the lift point to the left or right and use a hydraulic cylinder with a bracket on the drawbar? You may need to build a heavier drawbar for the tractor but if you break that, it's not a catastrophe like breaking off the PTO housing would be.

You might need to put sway limiters on there to keep the lift arm from hitting the cylinder.
