Why are the older tractor prices not too much different that the new ones?

We are going to look at an 87 ford 3910 which is for sale for $9,750, w/ low hours, but the salesmen tells us you can buy a New New Holland tractor about the same size for about $12,000.....Why is there just a few thousand dollars difference between a brand new tractor & a 13 year old one? I know it's close to the going price of those size ford tractors because I've been seeing more of them, that exact size that were even higher?
