This year I replaced my light duty F-250 with a GMC 1/2 ton and have been amazed with how well the lighter truck does. But, now that it is winter, I have a serious problem. Th eengine never gets warm! Hence, I freeze in the cab. It is a 4.3 V6, and it has new 195 thermostat, which made no difference replacing the old one. The heater core is not plugged, and all the flaps in the heater work like they are supposed to. One heater hose comes from the rear of the intake manifold, and the other one goes into the radiator, which I beleive may be causing the water to bypass the thermostat continuously. The water never stays in the engine long enough to warm up. It seems like everything is the factory configuration, and I cannot figure out why GMC would design a heating system that cannot warm up. The only way I get any heat is to completely cardboard the front of the radiator. This is in 20 degree weather. Any ideas? Anyone else got one of these refrigerated trucks that has cured it? Thanks!
