Save that tractor tire with the cut sidewall (tip)

Have you got a rear tractor tire with a cut in the sidewall that a boot won't fix? If you do, make a metal boot and keep on driving.Metal boot:
Cut a piece of soft aluminum sheet about four inches wide and long enough to cover the cut area.Cut a piece of tire sidewall the same size. Drill 1/4 to 5/16 holes in both pieces(drill them together so the holes will line up). Use one as a pattern, and drill the four holes around the cut area from the outside. Obtain four smooth headed carriage bolts that fit your boot and bolt the aluminum part on the inside of the tire and the rubber part on the outside. Use a mallet or round tool to make the alum. sheet conform to the shape of the tire. make sure the round head of the bolts are on the inside of the tire and there are no burs on the bolts or alum. sheet.Brad the nuts on the outside of the tire and go. DO NOT run with low pressure.
