David: I have an old clasic 45 degree rear tire that has a cut near the center between two lugs and it runs in the direction of rotation. The cut\split is almost 2-1/2 inches long and through the cords.( it has a boot now) Just squeezeing in stuff will SPRED open the tire under load?? Seems there has to to something to pull the cut together and hold it under stress befor anything is used to seal it?
I was thinking and looking but haven't come across anything except "quick shallow" comments from knowitalls so far. This a old classic tire of an other wise good pair so Iam not in a hurry to even think of tossing them away. How about using stainless steel braded webbing somehow?? harvey
