Ford NAA hard starting

I'm about to use my NAA as a boat anchor!! I've never had a Ford, but wanted a wide front end and made the leap. My problem: I've been spoiled by the easy starting of my old '39 Farmall H; It had a 12v conversion, made about a half turn and started, always! This may sound stupid, but is there a trick in starting the Ford? I believe the tractor in good tune shape, with the exception of flooding at times. Any advice would be appreciated before I tow it to the pond with my Farmall!! Thanks in advance
