There is one more thing to think about. It takes a lot of energy and petroleum to produce those new cars, even before their first fill up or oil change. How much more fossil fuels is it using to make all those new cars compared to just servicing roadworthy cars and keeping them going?
I never have been able to decide what to believe about environmentalists. Do they actually believe this and just have a limited ability to think of consequences or are they really up to something else altogether? As I've said many times, when I see them taking their own advice and practicing what they preach to others, then I will be willing to listen to what they have to say.
