ford tractor starting gear on flywheel

The starter gear on the flywheel of my old Ford tractor (about 1941) has slipped back out of reach of the starter. I need to split the tractor at that point I believe and get the fly wheel out to weld the gear back in place. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated. I would also like to know if there is a service manual that might help me.
