No. I`ve never changed a starter gear on an 8n. I have changed several on different vehicles tho, and in my ignorance presumed they were all pretty much the same.
A question. If there is a shoulder, or ridge,(and I am not doubting you) how did the gear get back far enough that his starter would not engage it?
It seems like to me that if it was that loose it would have been spinning on the flywheel.
