Ya ever done one of those danged 8N ring gears, snitkawl? I never have been able to get one over the step on the flywheel without heating WAY beyond 350 degrees, and I use dry ice to freeze the flywheel at the same time! To quote the original manual page 29... "When changing ring gear, it is particularly important that the ring gear be heated sufficiently to expand it to a diameter larger than the diameter of the shoulder on the flywheel." I hope Ford changed this design on the later tractors. Haven't had to change any thousand or hundred series ones yet so I dunno. But if you do have a trick that gets you assembled at 350 degrees I am all ears!It would be real neat to get one assembled quickly and easily. Truck ( who really doesn't like ring gear installation too much)
