yes if the guide is worn bad enough the valve might not seat correctly,then leak off the pressure,however i think it is probably the head gasket.did you check the head for worpage?the oil and coolant points to the gasket.how did you check compression with the head off?the head should also be checked for cracks,and look at the gasket very good,it should indicate where the leak is.
