oil smoking

I've got a Ford 8N and it has served me well in keeping my fields open and clear of brush. Lately, however, it's been using more oil ( the level is down a quart every couple of hours of use and I replenish it) and as of this week there's smoke coming from the oil reservoir. Advice on what to do ? Help !
