Mark, I don't agree with you. 10W-30 oil means in winter (the W) the oil acts like a straight 10 weight oil would. In summer, or when hot, it acts like a straight 30 weight. The viscosity of straight weight oil is MORE variable than multiviscosity oils. If you are worried about an oil varying into becoming too thin or thick, multiviscosity is your answer, not your problem. I doubt your belief that multiviscosity caused the failure you experienced.
