WHAT IS THE BEST TRACTOR

I am interested in buying an old reliable strong usable tractor and am relatively clueless. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but understand that I need affordable available parts. I have heard from anyone I talked to to get a diesel. I am now soliciting the "experts" for your opinions. I do value them and will take them into consideration. I just need some ideas, with all the brands and models out there, of what to look for. I want to spend less than $2000 and know that varies with the name, age, condition, model, etc. Please help and thanks in advance.
