I assume this is an air cooled engine. As mEL says, I though Deutz had a safety cut out. If you have an idiot light on the dash to show no charging (if the alternator stops), can you tap into this wire going through a switch and a relay to trigger the horn when it comes on? We had a tractor once that had been used on an irrigation pump. It was fitted with a devise called an ‘engine saver’ or something like that. It was a box that monitored oil and temperature, and would cut the engine out if it reached set limits. It was a fairly simply, with a spring loaded plunger that you had to re-set.
