Those rotary disk type mowers mentioned do also stick out and mow down everything and just have small cutters to replace. But when I used the one my uncle had it was heck at throwing gravel sized stones back at you ! I looked at a used JD loader tractor at a dealer once and it was from a township. They used it on one of those disk mowers and it had half the paint chipped of the right side of the tractor. Left side still looked great.
