My Ford 1700 has two gauges one is an RPM guage with two red lights one light is a battery and the other looks like an upside down bulb with a oil drop in the middle and two arrows pointing at it lets call this one (bulb). The second gauge has a �C� on the right and a �H� on the left with a needle in the lower middle and a round symbol between the two. Then the ignition key has three words "heat" "on" "start".
1) I am trying to figure out the starting procedure. I thought if I put the key to heat for a minute and then to start while increasing the throttle a bit it would start. My first question is when do I know that the glow plug is ready for the motor to start? 2) Then once the tractor starts if I leave the key on start the battery light stays lit read and the bulb light goes off and the second gauge goes to �C� or midway between the two. So my second question is, is this the correct position for the ignition key once started. 3) or once started if I turn the ignition key to "on" both the battery and the bulb red lights go off and the second gauge goes to the H position. Third question is, is this the correct position for the ignition key? 4) What does the �C� and �H� stands for? 5) What does the Bulb on the rpm gauge stand for? Can anyone help? The tractor is great but the battery keeps dying and I want to find out how to correctly start and run before troubleshooting the alternator or battery.
