I was out today with one of my 12 ga shot guns waiting out a varment. While sitting there I got to thinking back about the first time I fired a 12 ga. It was my grandad's old stevens double barrel 12 ga that gun was 75 years old or better 45 years ago. Grandad would let me shoot his 22, But the 12 ga was off limits for me at 10. One day I told him I was old and big enough to shoot it. So after missing a ground hog with the 22. He let me take it and wait out the ground hog by its hole. Finally it came back up and I shoot, My God what a noise when that old gun went off and it broke into like I was loading it. I guess that it was worn in the catch to the point it would stay caught? He would not let me shoot it ever again because it was unsafe. You can lock the barrels and snap it back open with out hitting the release I found out later on. It had not ever done that in the past grandad said. I still have Grandad's old double barrel, But its not been shot since then. Do you guys have any old gun stories?

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
