I take it that you have the shaft out because its not meshing with other gears. Or is this a shaft with sliding gears if the later slide the gear over to mesh then use a rag. If its out then put a good rag all the way around it and put it in a vise but don't over tighten it. Also get a strap wrench these work great and don't cost a fortune. Walt
